Blended Yarn — Cotton/Polyester, Modal and Lyocell

Blended yarn combines the strengths of two fibres: the comfort of cotton with the durability of polyester, or with the softness of modal and lyocell. In our own knitting we use cotton/polyester 50/50, modal/cotton, lyocell/cotton and lyocell/linen blends; core-spun, slub and other ratios we supply from our partner spinners.

01 Why Blends

What Does the Blend Ratio Change?

More polyester means higher strength, better shape retention and faster drying — important for hotel products that go through industrial laundering. More cotton brings moisture absorption and a natural handle. Modal and lyocell blends add softness, lustre and coolness to cotton jersey.

Blend ratio, spinning system and dyeing method must be considered together: two different fibres such as cotton and polyester are dyed with different dye classes to reach the same shade. Share the end use and we will choose the ratio and count together.

Blended Yarns We Supply

In-house yarns are our 2025–2026 purchases; others are confirmed with partner spinners in the quotation.

What You Receive With a Yarn Enquiry

Yarn decides quality before the fabric does — so we ask our spinners for measurable data with every price, and pass the same data on to you.

  • Sample cone — from qualities proven on our own knitting machines
  • The spinner’s lot-based laboratory report: count, twist, unevenness (CV%), imperfections and strength
  • For certified yarn: the spinner’s certificate and the transaction certificate (TC) chain for the shipment
  • Packing and loading details: cone weight, pallet and container layout
  • Lead time, Incoterms and payment terms in the quotation

FAQ

Blended Yarn — Frequently Asked Questions

When is cotton/polyester yarn the right choice?

When industrial laundering, fast drying and shape retention matter — as in hotel and workwear textiles. Polyester increases strength and dimensional stability; cotton keeps moisture absorption and comfort. 50/50 is the most common ratio.

Which blended yarns do you use in your own production?

In our own knitting we use cotton/polyester 50/50 (OE, Ne 30/1), modal/cotton 50/50 (Ne 28/1–30/1), lyocell/cotton 50/50 (Ne 26/1–30/1), lyocell/linen 80/20 (Ne 30/1) and combed melange (Ne 28/1).

Can I order a custom blend ratio?

Yes — custom ratios and counts can be developed with our partner spinners, depending on quantity. Send the ratio, count, quantity and end use, and we will confirm feasibility and the minimum quantity in the quotation.
